From the Alsace plain (Mulhouse, Colmar), head for Guebwiller or Cernay, then climb the RD430 towards Le Grand Ballon / Le Markstein.
From Lorraine (Épinal / Remiremont), access is via La Bresse or the Lorraine side of the crests, via the Route des Crêtes and then the Markstein junction (to be adapted according to snow conditions and opening of the passes).

Outdoor car parks at the foot of the Domaine du Markstein Grand-ballon (snow front), which are generally free or charge a small fee depending on the season. Some nearby accommodation has its own car park.
