On the Alpes de Haute-Provence / Haut-Verdon side, this slope ski-in ski-out widens the playing field: long descents, steeper slopes and open views on the summits of the Haut-Verdon (access via the’Espace Lumière, subject to conditions).
A lively little town with «Mexican houses», Barcelonnette concentrate services, shops, events and heritage. It is also the main crossing point to reach the station.

When should you go to Pra Loup?
- Winter : From December to early April depending on altitude. Quality snow cover strengthened by the culture, varied tracks on Pra Loup & Espace Lumière, links to La Foux d'Allos (depending on opening hours). Ski, snowshoes, sleds, paraglidingor cosy après-ski Pra Loup embodies the charm of the Southern Alps, between sun and snow.
- Summer : From June to September, the hiking, at MOUNTAIN BIKE, to legendary passes (Cayolle, Allos, Bonette), to high altitude lakes and Ubaye villages. The station retains its peaceful atmosphere, with summer entertainment, festivals and outdoor activities.
How do I get to Pra Loup?
Before reaching the station, plan your route: the road is accessible all year round, but the snow tyres or channels are compulsory during the winter period (Loi Montagne).
Getting to the resort by car
For those who prefer to travel independently, Pra Loup is easily accessible by road. Join the’A51 to the exit Tallard or La Saulce, then follow the N85 and the D900 in the direction of Barcelonnette, before taking the D208 for the final climb to Pra Loup 1500 / 1600. Well-maintained road offering superb views over the Ubaye valley. Car pooling is highly recommended to reduce your carbon footprint.
GPS point (winter) :
Between 1 November and 31 March, the French mountain law requires vehicles to be equipped with snow tyres or chains and socks. Some high-altitude passes (Cayolle, Allos, Bonette) are closed in winter: prefer to access them by Gap / Tallard → Barcelonnette → Pra Loup.
Outdoor car parks at the foot of the runway (Pra Loup 1600) and car parks near residences/hotels, which are generally chargeable in high season and free or low-cost in summer. Free inter-district shuttle buses run between Pra Loup 1500, 1600 and the valley, depending on the season.
Gap ~1 h 45 - Digne-les-Bains ~1 h 45 - Sisteron ~2 h 00 - Marseille ~3 h 00 - Nice ~3 h 00 (depending on traffic and weather conditions).
AC terminals available in the valley (Barcelonnette / Jausiers) and in the resort depending on the sector. Payment by credit card or dedicated application, via QR code on site.
Coming by train
Even though Pra Loup does not have its own station, the train is a good way of getting to the resort if you don't have your own car.
The busiest SNCF station in the area, served by TER/Intercity trains from Marseille, Valencia, Briançon or Grenoble. Then take the regional bus, shuttle, taxi or VTC to Barcelonnette and Pra Loup.
A useful regional alternative depending on where you are coming from (Chemins de fer de Provence line from Nice). Transfer by road to the Ubaye valley.
Other options with TER connections and road links. Interesting for arrivals from the Durance valley.
From the stations, enter Pra Loup via seasonal buses, taxis/VTC or car hire.

There are three main airports Pra Loup :
Major national and international hub with numerous flights to France and Europe. Car hire, private transfers and shuttles on request to the Ubaye valley and Pra Loup.
National and international flights all year round (Europe, Middle East, long-haul depending on season). Access to Pra Loup via the Var valley then the Ubaye (taking into account pass closures in winter) or via the A8/A51 motorway.
