This is the nearest and most convenient station for getting to Alpe d'Huez. It is served by Direct TGV and TER trains since Paris (≈3 h), Lyon, Marseille or Lille, as well as regular regional connections. From Altibus shuttles, regional buses and taxis/VTC then climb to the station in about 1 h 15, with extra departures during the winter season.
As a major central station on the SNCF network, it is a major practical alternative for travellers from all over France and abroad (Switzerland, Belgium, Italy). Direct regional trains and coaches run to Grenoble, and then the ascent to Alpe d'Huez can be easily made by connecting.
Ideal for travellers from the south of France (Provence, Occitanie) or the Mediterranean. From this station, there are regional shuttles and buses join Grenoble in around 1 hour 30 minutes, before the final climb to the centre.
